  • Currently, my research revolves around a project on Apioceridae, Asilidae, & Mydidae flies, which is funded by a USA National Science Foundation REVSYS grant. Read the summary here or read more about it here.
. phylogenetic relationships among Apioceridae, Asilidae, & Mydidae.
. revisionary projects on selected genera of Apioceridae, Asilidae, & Mydidae.
. biogeography of Apioceridae, Mydidae, & austral Asilidae clades.
. review of fossil taxa and cladistic placement within phylogeny.
  • higher-level phylogeny of Asilidae based on morphological characters of imagines & DNA-sequence data – This project was part of my Ph.D. dissertation and I continue my interest in this subject.
  • phylogenetic relationships of the genera of Leptogastrinae (Asilidae) and relationship to other taxa within Asilidae using morphological and molecular data.
  • biodiversity studies using specimen data from taxonomic revisions.
  • revisionary projects on Asilidae especially Leptogastrinae.
  • updating & enhancing the taxa-catalogue of Asilidae together with Fritz Geller-Grimm.
